Being a conceptually driven artist, I thought I'd share why the green hand print inclusion on this canvas. Besides the color symbolism associated with green, the hand print is indicative of my journey into the arts. During a hospitalized struggle with a consuming lung virus in October of 2001, I had the feeling of my eye’s being on fire for several days. Yet in the flames, I saw my hands creating and the results would carry a message to the people and be my voice. I promised myself that when I recovered from the illness, that I’d venture into where I’d never been before…art. Now, seven years later, my voice is heard through what I create with my hands, regardless of medium used.

The canvas is on its way to Aaron via USPS. What a wonderful opportunity this was to participate in a project that encompasses diverse artists across America. Way bitchin' idea!

It took me over a week to get a "feel" for the canvas but I realized what my signature on it should be. Then I've been in a 'wait for the paint to dry' phase. After being ill last week... ~freakin' asthma~ ... I feel well enough to get the canvas to the post office this week.

Hi there, Carolee. I'm not experienced in this blogging thang but am encouraged by you. Your story is greatly appreciated and inspiring. Oh I love the hand! and it is over the word area. Something cool about that, too. I like that I have met you this much. R' (Does one usually sign blogs?)
